Geostart became involved with this project early in 2019. We were invited to interpret the geophysical logs from borehole A and log the cores in detail from borehole B. The aim was to identify and mitigate the geological risks for the remaining wells of the project. Updated with the results of the study drilling has recently recommenced.

The plan is to extract heat from the Sherwood sandstone reservoir for the council buildings in Solihull. However to do so a thick section of the Mercia Mudstone must be drilled. This is challenging for the drillers and of great interest to the geologists not least because of the variety of sedimentary features that can be identified.
